The Procedure
After decayed and weakened tooth tissue is removed, your dentist prepares your tooth for restoration. CEREC then uses a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to take an image of your existing tooth, scanning it into a computer. Next, your dentist will design the contours of the restoration via computer with your 3D dental image. While you relax, diamond coated instruments are used to mill a ceramic bloc, perfectly reproducing the computer generated design. About 15 minutes later, the new CEREC restoration is placed in your mouth, fitted, polished and bonded for performance. Since the design is reproduced exactly to specifications, a perfect and comfortable fit is insured. Lastly, your new tooth is expertly polished, resulting in a smooth and natural result. The whole procedure will probably take no more than a couple of hours.
