Stained, discolored teeth are the result of the natural aging process, along with lifestyle choices (such as drinking coffee, tea, cola, wine, or smoking). Whitening products and services provided by Southern Heights Dental professionals are extremely safe and the most effective way to whiten your smile. In-Office Zoom! Chairside is a 1-hour service available for patients who desire immediate results, convenience and a long-lasting outcome. In a simple, one hour visit to our Faribault, Minnesota office, Zoom! Chairside whitens your teeth 8-10 shades. The Process: A whitening gel is placed on the teeth and surrounding tissues are covered for protection. After the whitening gel is put on, an ultra-violet light is applied to your teeth in 3-4 fifteen minute sessions. The light-activated whitening gel bleaches any colored substance while keeping the structure of the tooth unchanged. Custom take-home trays and whitening gel are also provided with your service for whitening maintenance. Home Whitening For those interested in self-applied, at-home bleaching, Southern Heights Dental offers Zoom! 3- day Turbo and Zoom! 3 week Nite White. With both of these systems, patients receive custom made trays and whitening gels. The Process: An impression is taken to make special mouth trays to hold the bleaching gel against the teeth. You apply the whitening gel to the custom trays and wear the trays for either a 3 day or 3 week period, depending on your chosen option. Once teeth reach the brightness desired, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. Professional Strength Products Professional Strength Products are a third option Southern Heights Dental provides. Our Crest Professional Strength Whitening Strips are not sold in stores, and contain a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide than over-the-counter products. A professional strength whitening toothpaste is also available. Dental whitening is extremely safe and can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. With any bleaching procedure, some patients may experience mild tooth sensitivity for a few days. Whitening services are not intended for artificial teeth, caps, crowns, bridges, veneers or fillings.
