In the first phase, an Oral Surgeon or a Periodontist surgically places the implants within your jawbone, beneath the surface of the gums.
Four to six weeks after the initial implant placement procedure, the specialist will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. (You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time.)
In the months following surgery, the implants will gradually bond with your jawbone and stabilize in their position. During this phase, your dentist at Southern Heights Dental Group will begin making your new teeth. Your final restoration consists of both a post or attachment connected to the implants, and also the actual permanent tooth restoration, with is placed over the post or attachment.
The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life and find their implant restorations very comfortable.
Dental implants are changing the way people live. The person who initially lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence.
